Ghost Recon Online is unique in the fact that tactical team-play is essential to victory. Teams however, can be fleeting and easily dispersed. But if a team is united by a common name and purpose it can evolve into something more - a clan. With dedication, skill and a will to win that clan can leave a lasting legacy.
You unlock the ability to create a clan at Level 10, which gives them access to “CREATE CLAN” from the Home screen. This will allow you to designate a Clan name, three letter Clan tag, and a Clan crest, as well as give them access to various Clan management features such as adding new players via invitation and the Clan roster. The Clan system also features Ranks – Commander, Officer, Soldier – allowing for better organization and the ability to grant or limit certain management features.
Other Clan Features:
- Chat - A dedicated chat channel for you clan.
- Clan Identity - The ability to create and use your Clan crest as your avatar, and
- Ranks - Promoting, Expelling, and Transfer of Clan Ownership

Clan Matches are one of the highlights of Ghost Recon Online. These matches allow you and your clan to team up against rivals and battle them directly on a map of your choice.
Clan Match Selection
After joining or creating a clan, Clan Match Settings will be unlocked in your lobby menu.
Creating A Clan Match
When setting up a clan match , you'll be able to choose the Map you want to play.
Before a match can begin, you must invite members from your clan and the opposing clan to join your match. You may choose any individual who belongs to any clan to be your opponent. This in turn allows the person you've chosen to invite people to his or her squad member list. When all match slots are filled and both squad leaders have clicked "ready", the match will commence.
Keep in mind that once the match begins, you may not change the members of your squad or alter any other setting. Advanced preparation of the team and selection of the map is very important.
Should you be disconnected from or quit a clan match you will be allowed to "rejoin" the same match as long as it is still ongoing. Bear in mind that when this happens, your previous scores in the scoreboard will be reset to 0 upon rejoining. If you wish to play in normal matchmaking mode or another clan game, you will have to exit the current match completely.
Chat and Other Functional Features
In GRO, communication is vital so clan match chat will be accessible in the channel selections after you get in the squad member selection lobby. Like in automated matchmaking, voice chat will be activated once the skirmish begins.
You can also quit a match, or if you’re the match leader, disband your current squad.
Matches will be unranked in patch 10.0 however, participants will still receive rewards at the end of the match. Weapon Proficiency points and a percentage of XP and RP will be given to clan members regardless if the match was won or lost.
Everything’s more fun with your friends! In Ghost Recon Online, you have the option to group up with up to three other people before jumping into the matchmaking system. Once you’re grouped in this way and queue up for a match, you will join games as a team. These groups are called Fireteams.
To form a Fireteam, log into the game, select your character, then enter the Match Lobby and click the "Invite Players to Fireteam" button. From here you may select either the "Friends" or "Public" tabs to choose players that you want to invite to your Fireteam. You can also invite a player by right clicking on their name in the chat lobby and selecting "Add to Fireteam".
Other Fireteam options:
- Kick – Removes a player from the party
- Promote – Promotes a player to leader of the group.
- Leave - Remove yourself from the party
Players that you meet in-game can be added to your Ghost Recon Online friends list. Once added to your list, you can see your friends online status, class, and level. To add a friend to your list, click the "Social" button located at the bottom right of the screen and click the "Friends" tab, and select "[+] Add". You can also add friends to your list by right clicking on their name in the chat lobby and selecting "Add Friend".
The friends list also allows you to quickly add people to your Fireteam so that you can join matches together.
